Moses wanted to see the presence of God. Not only that he refused to go on the rest of the journey if God’s presence did not go with them. I love that God said in response, “I will make my goodness pass before you.” This “goodness” made Moses glow for a long time. This was after God placed Moses in the rocks and covered him with His hand… Just the backside of the goodness of God is all Moses got. Man, I can’t even imagine what it will be like in heaven, when we see Him face to face.
I love the second section of this as well, God promises to be gracious to whom I will be gracious and have compassion on those whom I have compassion. We are part of the miracle! We are the doing part of the promise. This is God allowing us to partake in His goodness, and share it with others. What a privilege and a honor.
